Potrait in soft pastels

Well  looks like I am now away from watercolors for a long time. I am dreaming about what I want to do with watercolors but somehow not able to sit down and start it. Past few days I have been working with soft pastels. During my Ladakh trip last year  the photo of this ladakhi girl came to me when one of our group members shared her photos with me. I think the photograph was taken by Poornima.
I couldnot do justice to the girls face at all. Her eyes were unusally big very innocent and face was very pale . This young lady will grow into a beauty with years.I loved her different look .Soft pastels are dusty to work with and I need lots of practise .Potrait is also foreign to me!But I liked the final picture and would like to  welcome your comments.

Batik painting

Hi this is a first attempt at batik. My nephew and sister in law went for a training programme in badminton in Malaysia and came back with lots of batik dyes, wax and brushes for me. This is an easy to do hobby kit and the brand name is Fairbro. There is a liquid wax tube which is very convenient to use. The colors are very bright and easily mixes with each other. I had lots of fun making this piece on a cotton cloth.Do let me know if you like it.

Water color painting crafts

Hi friends glad to be back. Its easy to leave and go but so tough to comeback !! Well after getting back from my flu for the year I had no further excuses. I have not yet started painting. For the time being check out what I made from  pieces of my paintings . The first one I thought of using as a coaster but its small. the second one I am planning to use as a locket. Learned this fantastic technique of making jewellery with watercolor painting from the internet .These pieces are having almost 7 layers of paper  glue and varnish.

Soft Pastels -An young Fox

I am constantly  inspired by other blogging artists to try out different medias .Arti's portraits in pastels(http://artichauhan.blogspot.in/) is so beautiful that I wanted to try pastels again.I had tried pastels long back and had only bit and pieces of pastels with me.With limited pastels and color pencils well I started on pastel painting a picture of an young fox shyly investigating a patch of yellow daffodils.Picture is from a second hand book The secret life of the New Forest by Eric Ashby. A very good book having photographs of the wildlife of  New Forest  by Eric Ashby a person completely devoted to wildlife photography (1989)
The painting is of size 9"x21".Friends do let me know  your comments .

Red Berries in watercolor

Hi there ! This post is about a very simple painting  to gain my confidence. Its really tough you know once you get stuck and you can"t bring yourselves to sit down and start painting.Excuses come in just like that for not deciding or getting the time to paint. I was trying many things to break away from my stuck mode.Well checking out what others are painting did only affirm that  I am  good for nothing in art.So for a few days I was keeping away from reading blog lists that I follow. All the pictures I have  were not good enough  to paint. I started on a few and  left them halfway.Nothing worked all the styles proved to end up only in a mess.Tried all kind of medias and still felt dissatisfied.
So yesterday I took up a simple picture . Although initially I felt it was also going to be wasted .I tried to bring life into each fruit in the picture. I am not sure if I should  paint the background .Here is the picture without any background wash.

5" x 15"
Well I think my mind is stuck up on non painting mode only because I do not have an aim or a target to reach. After the exhibition for which I painted almost everyday my next attempt was to get google adsense for my blog and it failed miserably. I really do not know the reasons why my application is repeatedly  rejected.May be I should find a new challenge and forget my disappointments. A finished painting is really encouraging and motivating ,so maybe my next painting will not be delayed.

The actual painting looks better than the photo but still there is many improvements that I have to make.Do let me know your comments.By the way I dont like cats except this one.
